BAKE LIFE SWEETER COOKIE MIX RECIPE CONTEST RULES
WHAT IS THE CONTEST? The Bake Life SweeterTM Cookie Mix Recipe Contest encourages creative bakers to use Betty Crocker¨ cookie mix to create great homemade cookie recipes using additional ingredients, decorations and serving ideas.
What can I win?
Grand Prize One (1) of the fifteen selected Finalist
recipes will be judged the Grand Prize Winner. The Grand
Prize winner will be awarded a check for $5000. In
addition, the Grand Prize winner will also receive 1000
Bonus Box Tops to be awarded to the winnerâs designated
school registered in the Box Tops for Education program.
Bonus Box Tops will be awarded directly to designated
school. Individuals cannot redeem Bonus Box Tops for
cash. Approximate value of grand prize is $5100.
Finalist Prizes: Fourteen (14) Finalists will each be awarded $500 cash and 1000 Bonus Box Tops to be awarded to the winnerâs designated school registered in the Box Tops for Education program. The $500 Finalist prizes will be awarded as checks. Bonus Box Tops prizes will be awarded directly to designated schools. Individuals cannot redeem Bonus Box Tops for cash. Approximate value of each Finalist prize is $600.
Online Voting Prize: Consumers will be invited to go online to www.BakeLifeSweeter.com/Cookies during late March 2008 to view the fifteen Finalist recipes and to vote for the recipe they feel best meets contest judging criteria of Taste and Creativity. The recipe receiving the most consumer votes will receive the Online Voting Prize of $500. The $500 prize will be awarded as a check. The Online Voting Prize will be awarded in addition to a Finalist or Grand Prize.
Honorable Mentions: Up to twelve (12) entrants will each be awarded Honorable Mention and be recognized on www.BakeLifeSweeter.com/Cookies.
All contest prizes are not transferable, except at
the sole discretion of General Mills. Each Finalist is
eligible to win only one prize, except for the Online
Voting Prize winner, who will receive a Finalist prize
or Grand Prize and the Online Voting Prize. All taxes
and other expenses, if any, are the sole responsibility
of the winners. This contest is void where prohibited or
otherwise regulated. All federal, state and local laws
apply.
Who can enter?
You are eligible if you are 18 years of age or older as
of November 5, 2007, and are a legal United States
resident residing in one of the 50 United States or
District of Columbia during the competition.
You are not eligible to enter and will be disqualified
if:
You are a food professional, such as a chef, food writer or food home economist who creates recipes for pay.
You are an employee of General Mills, Archway Marketing Services, or any of their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, or a member of the immediate family (parent, children, siblings, spouse, regardless of where they live) or same household of such employees (whether related or not).
How do I enter?
Submit your recipe that uses at least one 17.5 ounce
Betty Crocker Cookie Mix product (Chocolate Chip, Peanut
Butter, Sugar Cookie, Oatmeal, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip,
Walnut Chocolate Chip or Double Chocolate Chunk).

Online entry only. Go to www.BakeLifeSweeter.com/Cookies,
register to become a member of BettyCrocker.com (or log
on if you are already a member) and submit your recipe
using the online entry form, filling in all requested
information completely. Recipes submitted online must
include the eligible product(s) used. List each recipe
ingredient with specific flavor, exact measurements or
weights, and in the order used. Provide complete
preparation directions including baking time and
temperature and type of bakeware used (including exact
dimensions or size). All recipes must utilize a baking
or cooking method of preparation. A recipe without a
baking or cooking step will not be accepted. All
electronic entries must be received between 12:00 a.m.
on November 5, 2007 and 12:00 p.m. on February 1, 2008
(central time). Each electronic entry should be
submitted only once. Use of automated processes and
devices to submit electronic entries are not permitted.
Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any changes or
effects caused to the entrant's computer system as a
result of submitting electronic entries.
Only entries submitted via the website electronic form
will be accepted. Entries submitted via facsimile or
other express delivery services will NOT be accepted.
Not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or otherwise
undeliverable mail, or entries that cannot be processed
due to phone, network, electronic or computer hardware
or software failure, or technical failures of any kind.
General Mills reserves the right at its sole discretion
to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to
tamper with the entry process or the operation of the
contest or website or violates the Official Rules. In
the case of duplicate recipes, the first entry received
will be judged. By submitting your recipe, you accept
all contest rules and agree to be bound by the decisions
of the judges, which will be final. You also agree that
your recipe becomes the sole property of General Mills,
and General Mills reserves the right to edit, adapt,
copyright, publish, transfer and use any or all of them,
without compensation.
How will recipes be judged?
All entries must meet the contest requirements. Recipe
entries must be created by the contestant. Initial
judging will be done by home economists for appropriate
use of eligible products in addition to the criteria
outlined below for the finalist recipes:
Judges will disqualify previously published recipes,
such as but not limited to those in major cookbooks, in
magazines, from food companies, on major food or recipe
websites and winners in national contests, unless the
recipe features changes considered significant by the
judges. Finalists will be required to certify, on
information or belief, that their recipes are their own
creation and have not been published or publicized and
have not won a national contest. General Mills will
select and supply the ingredients and cooking equipment
to be used during judging. General Mills reserves the
right to substitute comparable products at its
discretion. Final judging will be done by a panel of
food experts. Decision of the judges is final in all
matters relating to this Contest.
Recipe Ideas
Recipes may be submitted for any type of cookie, bar or
treat. Some idea-starters for recipes are as follows:
Kid Fun: Cookies that make a fun family activity
Treats with a Twist: Cookies and bars with nutritious ingredient additions
Crowd Pleaser: Recipes using 2 or more mixes for serving a large group
Ethnic-inspired Treats: Simplified cookie and bars representing your heritage or ethnicity
Cookie Favorites: Traditional favorites and home-style treats made easier
Cookie Bars: Bite-sized pick-ups to indulgent dessert squares eaten with a fork
What happens if I win?
If you are one of the fifteen (15) selected Finalists or
one of the up to twelve (12) Honorable Mentions, you
will be notified on or about February 15, 2008 via
e-mail. Grand Prize and Online Voting winners will be
announced on April 24, 2008 at
www.BakeLifeSweeter.com/Cookies. Selected Finalists
and Honorable Mentions will be required to sign an
affidavit of eligibility and a liability
release/assignment of rights and return within 5 days of
receipt of notification. Any Finalist who does not
comply with this requirement, cannot be easily located
at the e-mail address provided may forfeit prize and an
alternate Finalist may be selected. Any Honorable
Mention who does not comply with this requirement,
cannot be easily located at the e-mail address provided
may forfeit Honorable Mention status, and an alternate
Honorable Mention may be selected. Except where
prohibited by law, each Finalist or Honorable Mention
will be required to sign a release giving General Mills
and its nominees full rights to use the Finalist's or
Honorable Mentionâs name, likeness, image and voice for
Contest related advertising and publicity, including
such usage on the Internet. After accepting prize, the
Grand Prize winner will not be eligible to win another
Grand Prize in the three subsequent Bake Life SweeterTM
Cookie Mix Recipe contests. General Mills reserves the
right to cancel this promotion at its sole discretion.
Winners will be posted on the Internet at
www.BakeLifeSweeter.com/Cookies following the
competition.
