COOKING FOR TWO CASSEROLE MAKEOVERShare Your
Best Casseroles… We’ll Downsize Them for You!
When wondering what to cook tonight for the two of you, a
casserole isn’t likely the first thing that comes to mind.
That’s because we often equate casseroles with potlucks,
crowds and lots of leftovers.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could make a small version of
your aunt’s delicious pizza casserole or that cheesy chicken
bake from the church supper?
That’s the idea behind our “Casserole Makeover” contest.
Just send us your most mouth-watering, family-size casserole
recipes that you’d like us to pare down. If your recipe is
among those selected, our Test Kitchen will downsize the
ingredient amounts so your casserole will feed only two or a
few. (Most casseroles freeze easily…so a couple extra
servings would make a convenient lunch.)
It’s a win-win situation: We do the downsizing work for
you…and you have a chance at one of our fabulous prizes,
including the top prize of $500.
So check your recipe files and share your favorite main
dish casseroles, from sausage and noodles to ham and
asparagus bake. Maybe you have a fabulous turkey pie or a
savory seafood combination. And don’t forget side dishes
like broccoli-cheddar bake, garden casserole and classic mac
and cheese. Send us your eye-opening brunch casseroles and
meatless mainstays as well.
We’ll select a Grand Prize, second-place and third-place
winner plus five runners-up. The top eight winners will be
featured in the Fall 2008 issue.
Deadline for the “Casserole Makeover” contest is January
5, 2008. Good things do come in small packages, and if your
recipe is one of them, you could reap big rewards!
Contest Prizes
In each contest, we’ll select three top winners, plus
five runners-up. The winner whose recipe is judged “best of
the best” and takes our Grand Prize will receive $500.00 in
cash!
Our second-place winner will cash in, too. The cook whose
recipe takes the No. 2 spot will receive $250.00.
For third place, we’ll award a prize that would thrill
any cook—a Euro-Pro Convection Toaster Oven valued at
$89.99. With its extra-deep dimensions, this countertop oven
is big enough to bake pies, broil a whole chicken, or even
cook a pizza (a pizza stone is included). But you’ll save on
energy…and won’t heat up the whole kitchen when you use it.
In addition, we’ll award prizes to five runners-up. Each
of these creative cooks will receive Taste of Home’s
Quick-Fry Electric Skillet, valued at $24.99. At 7 inches,
this handy appliance is sized just right for preparing meals
for one or two.
Contest Rules
You may enter more than one recipe, but be sure to
include your full name, street address and phone number,
including area code, with each entry. If you are sending
entries by regular mail, made sure you print or type your
recipe on only one side of a sheet of paper.
Be specific with measurements, directions and the size of
cans, packages and pans so others can successfully make your
recipe.
Please include a few words about the origin of your
recipe, any variations and compliments you have received. If
duplicates are received, entries with the earliest postmarks
will be considered.
All entries become the property of Reiman Publications
and will not be returned. Recipes not chosen for contests
may be featured in future issues of Cooking for 2. If there
isn’t room in the magazine, we may use them in other Reiman
publications, cookbooks, promotional projects or on our Web
sites.
Please include a few words about the recipe and a bit
about yourself.
By submitting material for publication, you grant Reiman

affiliates, partners and licensees unrestricted use of the
material, including your name, hometown and state. We
