Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. How to Enter: Complete the online entry form. Sweepstakes
begins on November 17, 2008 at 2:00:01 P.M. Central Time (ET) and ends
January 30, 2009 at 11:59:59 P.M. ET (“Promotional Period”). Each recipe
submitted must be accompanied by an anecdote of up to 200 words explaining
what this cookie means to you. One entry per person.
2. Eligibility: The contest is open to all legal
United States residents eighteen years of age or older. Employees of Hallmark
Cards, Incorporated, (“Hallmark”), its affiliated and subsidiary companies,
or of the ad agency or other firm(s) involved in the design or conduct
of this contest, and members of the families of those persons, are not
eligible to participate.
3. Prizes: Ten winners will receive cookie baking and
decorating items supplied by Wilton, Inc. (Value: $100)
4. Judging: The Food Editor will select 20 Semi-Finalists
("Semi-Finalists"). The Semi-Finalists' recipes will be tested,
and the winners will be picked based on two things: 1) how the cookie
tastes 2) the story behind the cookie. The judges’ decisions on all matters
pertaining to this contest are final.
By entering the contest, the winner agrees that Hallmark, its parent,
subsidiary and affiliated companies and their respective advertising,
promotion and distribution agencies, affiliates, officers, directors and
employees shall have no liability in connection with acceptance, operation,
condition or use of the prizes awarded herein and acknowledge that said
parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable
for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, expressed or implied,
in fact or in law, relative to any prize. Entry in the contest constitutes
permission to use winner's entry, name and likeness for media, publicity
and advertising purposes without additional compensation. In consideration
of Hallmark including entrant's recipe in the judging process, entrant
agrees that Hallmark, Hallmark Publishing Holdings, and their respective
licensees and assignees may reproduce, distribute, publish, and otherwise
use such recipe, whether or not it is chosen as the winner, in its original
form or as may be edited by the user, for any purposes (including commercial
purposes) in any places and at any times. Entry in the contest constitutes
representation and warranty by the entrant that the recipe is the original
work of the entrant, that the recipe or anything substantially similar
to it has not previously been published, and that use of the recipe, as
allowed by these rules, will not infringe the rights of any person or
firm.
Prizes may be substituted by Hallmark in the event they become unavailable
due to circumstances beyond the control of Hallmark. Hallmark reserves
the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the contest should
causes beyond the reasonable control of Hallmark corrupt the administration,
security or proper operation of the contest.
5. General Rules: Sponsor will be not responsible for
entries that are lost, late, misdirected, incorrect, garbled or incompletely
received, for any reason, including by reason of hardware, software, browser
or network failure, malfunction, congestion or incompatibility at Sponsor’s
server or elsewhere. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right
to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, or the operation
of the website. Use of bots or other automated process to enter is prohibited
and may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.
Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify any
promotion not capable of completion as planned, including by reason of
infection, by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention,
force majeure or technical failures of any sort. In the event of a dispute,
entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the
email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder”
is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address
by an Internet Access Provider, online service provider or other organization
(e.g. business, educational institute) that is responsible for assigning
e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
All entries become the property of the Sponsor. The prizes are non-transferable
and cannot be substituted or redeemed for cash. All taxes related to the
prize are the responsibility of the winner of that prize. The prize winner
will be required to provide proper identification (including Social Security
number) to claim the prize and will be required to execute an affidavit
of eligibility, promotional release, and release from liability within
fourteen days after receiving notification of winning the prize. In the
event of non-compliance with these requirements, or if the winner cannot
be contacted at the address and telephone number given on the entry form,
the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner. Any prize returned as
undeliverable will be awarded to an alternate winner.
