4. Prime Plates: Main courses, from fish and poultry to red meat originals
5. Batter Up: Yeast breads, quick breads, rolls, muffins and biscuits
6. Scintillating Sweets: Satisfying desserts from cookies and candies to cakes, pies and creamy treats

You have my permission to publish my recipe in the Cookbook Recipe Contest in the Advance. As far as I know, this recipe never before has been published in its present form. I understand that no entries will be returned.

Advance Cookbook Recipe Contest Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER. To be eligible, a recipe must be original, an old family favorite or a recipe that has been significantly altered from an existing recipe. Recipes that have been previously published in some form, or those deemed by the judges to be too similar to previously published recipes, will be ineligible for prizes.
* The contest is open to all amateur cooks with the exception of Advance employees and their immediate families.
* Recipes should be sent with a filled-in coupon to: Advance Recipe Contest, 950 Fingerboard Rd., Staten Island, N.Y. 10305, or e-mailed to food@siadvance.com.
* Entries must be received by Jan. 30, 2009. All entries become the property of the Advance and will not be acknowledged or returned.
* Each recipe must be written legibly, or typed on one side of a plain sheet of paper. The entry should include a complete list of recipe ingredients, given in the order in which they are to be used, followed by instructions for assembling the recipe. The number of servings provided by the recipe also should be included.
* The exact amount of each ingredient to be used should be specified in standard measurements. If packaged, canned or frozen items are used, state the exact size.
* Three finalists from each category will be invited to bring a sample of their nominated recipes to the annual Taste-Off in February, 2009.
* Winners will be selected on the basis of appearance, taste, texture and originality by a panel of food professionals. All decisions of the judges are final.
* The Staten Island Advance will award $1,000 to the person judged the grand prize winner and $500 to the person submitting the recipe judged as the runner-up. Each category winner will receive $100. The winners will be announced on March 1, 2008.
* By providing your email address you will receive occasional updates about special offers and other information from the Advance, our website, and other affiliated companies.
* The contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. It is void where prohibited. Income and other taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winners.
* Acceptance of prize constitutes consent to use winners' names and likenesses for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes. Winners may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release which must be returned within thirty (30) days from the date of notification, or an alternate winner may be chosen. |
