2014 BULL BURGER BATTLEs

DEADLINE

ASAP!

DESCRIPTION

Submit an application to participate in a burger cook-off! Your original burgers can consist of ground beef or ground alternatives including but not exclusive to: buffalo, bison, turkey, veal, black bean, salmon etc. You are permitted one assistant during the compeitition.
This series of burger cook-offs will be used as qualifiers for the Burger category of the World Food Championships. There will be 5 cookoffs, each accepting only 15 competitors, so get your applications in early. Cook-off schedule is:

AUGUST 2014

SAN GIORGIO® PASTA 100TH ANNIVERSARY RECIPE CONTEST

DEADLINE

August 28, 2014

DESCRIPTION

Enter your favorite recipe that uses San Giorgio® pasta and no more than 12 ingredients, excluding salt, pepper, and water from the count. Include a short description of the story behind your recipe (100 words max) and a photo of the dish. 3 Finalists in each market area will compete in a regional cook-off at a hosting restaurant (traveling at their own expense). They will be given 2 hours to prepare their recipe.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of the United States and DC who have reached the age of majority and live in one of three market areas: Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Pittsburg. There is a tool on the Details page that will tell you if your zipcode is included. The areas are fairly wide and include much of southern PA, MD, DC, NJ, and parts of WV and OH.

PRIZES

3 Grand Prizes (1/per Market Competition): $5,000 awarded in the form of a check, and the opportunity to have the winning recipe prepared by the applicable restaurant's chef. The prepared recipe along with a recipe card will be distributed by the San Giorgio® Food Truck in the applicable local Market.
3 First Prizes (1/per Market Competition): $500, awarded in the form of a pre-paid debit card.

Enter your recipe and method for a 1-serving cocktail. No more than 2 oz of alcohol (all alcohols combined) to be used. Ocean Vodka should be the main alcohol ingredient, no pre-infused alcohol allowed. Use fresh ingredients to fit the theme "Farm to Table." Include a photo of your cocktail.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and DC who are age 21 or older. It appears that the contest is also open to adults from other countries. Hawaiian residents will be judged separately from other entrants.

Submit a photo of your alcoholic or non-alcoholic version cocktail recipe made using Slim Lizzy’s Cosmo or Margarita mixes, or the equivalent. Entries must be uploaded via Instagram or Twitter, using the hashtag #Lizology. The sponsor will respond with a link where you must complete your entry within 24 hours with the recipe for the cocktail and your contact information. The deadline posted above is the date the photo must be submitted, with the complete entry due by the end of the month.
This is the last of five monthly entry periods, all with the same theme. Non-winning entries are not carried over to subsequent months.

ELIGIBILITY

INSIDE JERSEY'S BEST HOME CHEF CONTEST 2014

DESCRIPTION

Nominate an amateur New Jersey chef as the "Best Home Chef" by submitting an 100-word essay on why the honor is deserved, along with one of the nominee's recipes. The recipe should use real ingredients, with limited reliance on prepackaged food, and fit one of three categories: appetizer, entrée or dessert. Keep in mind that one of the judging points being considered is "Fusion of cultures or techniques."
You may nominate yourself or another person. Finalists will be asked to prepare their nominated dish and bring it to the Classic Thyme Cooking School in Westfield, NJ on or about October 14, 2014 for judging.

ELIGIBILITY

Nominators and nominees must be legal residents of New Jersey who are age 18 or older.

CABOT FARMER'S LEGACY COLLECTION RECIPE CONTEST

DESCRIPTION

Submit an original family favorite recipe which includes a minimum of 2 ounces of one of Cabot Farmer’s Legacy Collection varieties (residents of MD, NJ, ND and VT are not required to use Cabot brand) and ingredients commonly available at retailers. Include a photo of the recipe with a caption (in 100 words or less) that describes how the recipe is a family legacy. DESCRIPTION

Create and enter a burger recipe, defined as a grilled patty formed of ground meat or other ground foods, and served on a bread product or alternative wrappings such as lettuce. It may include condiments, sauces, spreads, cheeses, and toppings, all in or on the bread product/alternative wrapping. No side dishes or garnishes are allowed. Size your recipe to make 6 burgers, or 6 servings of a giant burger, or 12-18 sliders. Previous non-winning entries may be updated and resubmitted. Recipe must be completely preparable within 60 minutes.
The Build a Better Burger (BBB) contest has been held yearly since 1990. If you have entered before, you will see that for 2014, the rules have some big changes. The contest is not split into Alternative and Beef categories; all recipes are judged against each other. There will not be a cook-off this year. Non-bread wrappings for your patty are allowed. The time limit has been shortened, so time your instructions carefully if you are creating a multi-step elaborate burger — which BBB finalists have frequently been — and use pre-prepared ingredients. And we regret to observe the prizes have been reduced.

CHEVRON GAME DAY CHEF CHALLENGE

DESCRIPTION

Submit your original game-day recipe that contains one or more food or beverage items purchased from a Chevron or Texaco station and used as an ingredient in the recipe. The recipe should not take more than one hour to prepare. Alcoholic beverages may not be used as the mandatory ingredient. Include both a photo of the prepared recipe and a photo of the receipt for the required item, as well as a brief (300 character max) description of the dish. 5 Regional Finalists each will compete in 5 regional cook-offs; the winners in each regional cook-off will go on to compete in the Grand Finale Cook-Off.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington who are age 18 or older.
