2014 BULL BURGER BATTLEs

DEADLINE

ASAP!

DESCRIPTION

Submit an application to participate in a burger cook-off! Your original burgers can consist of ground beef or ground alternatives including but not exclusive to: buffalo, bison, turkey, veal, black bean, salmon etc. You are permitted one assistant during the compeitition.
This series of burger cook-offs will be used as qualifiers for the Burger category of the World Food Championships. There will be 5 cookoffs, each accepting only 15 competitors, so get your applications in early. Cook-off schedule is:

DESCRIPTION

Submit your best innovative recipe that includes at least 2 whole Eggland's Best eggs as an ingredient. Photos are optional. There are four categories: Breakfast; Main Course; Appetizer; and Dessert, and you may also further specify that the recipe is Kid-Friendly. In order to be Kid-Friendly, the recipe must: have less than 10 ingredients; include no more than 7 active steps in the preparation (not counting preheating or pan prep), of which at least 3 can be performed by a child aged 4-12; and have a total prep time of 15 minutes (not including pre-cooking, baking, or bringing to room temperature)

SALTSCAPES 2014 COMFORT FOOD RECIPE CONTEST

DESCRIPTION

Enter your recipes into one of two categories by featured ingredient: Maple Syrup or Cranberries. Any type of dish may be entered. Attribute any modified recipes to their original source.

ELIGIBILITY

Must be 19 or older and an amateur cook. Residency requirement not given in rules, but entry form asks for province, not state — so we assume it open to Canadaian residents only.

PRIZES

Grand Prize: Bosch 500 Series dishwasher, Model SHP65T55UC (ARV $1549).
There are also prizes of Sobeys gift certificates and Cookbook prize packages. The sponsors don't clearly state the total number of prizes.

RIX RECIPE COMPETITION - JULY 2014

Introducing another ongoing monthly contest! Each month, check the sponsor's website for the seasonal recipe they've published, designed to be prepared using an Aga cooker or range style cooker. Then prove you can do better by taking the chosen seasonal ingredient and creating and blogging your own recipe featuring that ingredient, along with a photo of the dish. Mention the contest and give a link to it in your blog post. Submit your entry by posting the recipe to Rix's Facebook page or the blog URL on Twitter, using the hashtag #Againspiredrecipes in either case.

Enter your original recipe that calls for at least six cloves of fresh garlic, or the equivalent packaged form (1 tablespoon minced or chopped). Your recipe must serve four people, be a single menu item, and take less than two hours preparation time. Three finalists must participate in a cook-off on August 24, 2014 in Lac La Hache, British Columbia in order to receive a prize.

SUTTER HOME'S BUILD A BETTER BURGER CONTEST 2014

DESCRIPTION

Create and enter a burger recipe, defined as a grilled patty formed of ground meat or other ground foods, and served on a bread product or alternative wrappings such as lettuce. It may include condiments, sauces, spreads, cheeses, and toppings, all in or on the bread product/alternative wrapping. No side dishes or garnishes are allowed. Size your recipe to make 6 burgers, or 6 servings of a giant burger, or 12-18 sliders. Previous non-winning entries may be updated and resubmitted. Recipe must be completely preparable within 60 minutes.
The Build a Better Burger (BBB) contest has been held yearly since 1990. If you have entered before, you will see that for 2014, the rules have some big changes. The contest is not split into Alternative and Beef categories; all recipes are judged against each other. There will not be a cook-off this year. Non-bread wrappings for your patty are allowed. The time limit has been shortened, so time your instructions carefully if you are creating a multi-step elaborate burger — which BBB finalists have frequently been — and use pre-prepared ingredients. And we regret to observe the prizes have been reduced.
