DESCRIPTION

Enter a recipe in one of the seven categories selected for this year's cookbook: Salads, Vegetables & Sides; Main Dish; Slow Cooker; Health Conscious; Burger Bonanza; Entertaining; and of course, Desserts and Baked Goods.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all — but if you are a finalist, you must bring your prepared dish to the TIMES NEWS office in Mahoning Township, PA for final judging.

PRIZES

Winners in each category will receive a $50 grocery store gift card and a $50 gift card to Roadies Restaurant at Penn's Peak, plus a choice of two cookbooks valued at close to $20 each. In addition, the grand prize winner will receive a $100 gift card to Roadies Restaurant and a $100 grocery store gift card.

DESCRIPTION

Create your unique donut online beginning with one of Dunkin Donut's 7 doughs, then choosing a shape, fillings, icing and toppings to complete your creation. Give it a name and write a short essay about what inspired it and/or why it is the best.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of the United States and DC who are at least 13 years old. Minors must have their parent/guardian's permission to enter. Prizes will be awarded to the parent or legal guardian of any winner who is a minor in his/her state of residence.

PRIZES

Grand Prize: $12,000.00 check made payable to the winner and the opportunity to have the Donut Creation produced as part of the Dunkin' Donuts product line as a Limited Edition donut.

There are 4 categories. The recipes will be judged on maximum use of local products, ease of preparation, and taste. Extra points for food friendly wine suggestions and bonus marks if the wine is from Sanson! The contest includes a cook-off.

ELIGIBILITY

The winery is in Ontario, so this contest is open to residents of that province, at least -- rules do not specifically say others from Canada or US cannot enter.

COOKING UP CHANGE

Design a healthy school lunch (1 entrée, 2 sides) and submit the recipes, a report on the nutritional content of the recipes, and photos of your team during various stages of the process. Use only ingredients from the official ingredient list.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to teams of 3 college students, all with previous knowledge of basic culinary skills and familiarity with foodservice safety issues. (For corresponding high school contest, see the Jr. Cooks page.)

PRIZES

Finalist teams will receive all-expense paid trips to Detroit, MI to a cook-off at Taking Root, the National Farm to Cafeteria conference May 16-18, 2010.
